The desk journal — B5, larger than the everyday A5, bound hard in a woven cotton bookcloth over board so it holds its shape open on a table and closes flat when you are done. A sewn-in ribbon marker keeps your place; an elastic band holds it shut in a bag.
256 pages of the house 120 gsm ivory in a 5 mm dot grid, section-sewn so it lies flat to the gutter even at the centre of the block. The bookcloth is dyed through, so a scuff does not show pale beneath, and it softens at the spine with use rather than cracking. This is the book you keep, not the one you use up.
